Straining removes paint skin, agglomerates, undissolved pigment, and contamination that would clog gun tips, cause tip-dry, and create surface defects in the finished paint. 190 Micron mesh is the standard for automotive topcoat and clearcoat straining — fine enough to catch damaging particles while flowing freely at production speeds.
