Choosing the Right Abrasive System

- PSA (Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive) discs provide aggressive stock removal and are ideal for feathering body filler, shaping repairs, and initial primer leveling
- Hook & Loop discs offer quick disc changes and work best for multi-step sanding sequences where you progress through several grits

Grit Selection Guide
Selecting the correct grit sequence is critical. Starting too fine wastes time; starting too coarse creates deep scratches that telegraph through the finish. Here's a general framework:
- 40–80 grit: Heavy material removal — stripping old finishes, shaping body filler
- 150–220 grit: Final filler shaping, featheredging, initial primer prep
- 320–400 grit: Primer leveling, guide coat sanding, surface refinement
- 500–800 grit: Pre-paint final sand, wet sanding between coats
- 1000–3000 grit: Color sanding clearcoat, defect removal, final polish prep
