The 3M 94248 Versaflo™ Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) Kit delivers the highest level of respiratory protection available for automotive spray painters working with isocyanate-containing clearcoats, two-component hardeners, and other hazardous refinish materials. A battery-powered blower draws contaminated booth air through HEPA/OV filter cartridges and supplies clean, filtered air to the face — providing positive-pressure protection that exceeds conventional cartridge respirator performance.
PAPR systems are strongly recommended — and required by many OEM repair procedures — when spraying isocyanate (2K) clearcoats and hardeners. Isocyanates are the leading cause of occupational asthma in the automotive refinishing industry, and conventional cartridge respirators provide inadequate protection for production spray operations. The Versaflo system pairs with 3M supplied-air hoods for complete head, face, and respiratory protection in a single system.
