3M 05907 Polyolefin Adhesion Promoter (12 oz) is a chemical adhesion promoter required before painting unpainted polyolefin plastic bumpers and fascias — TPO, PP, EPDM, and other polyolefin substrates that standard paint systems cannot bond to without pre-treatment. Applied by wipe before primer, it modifies the surface energy of the plastic to allow proper topcoat adhesion without peeling or delamination.
Polyolefin plastics are chemically inert surfaces — paint simply will not adhere without an adhesion promoter. This step is required by all paint system manufacturers when refinishing unpainted or stripped polyolefin fascias and bumper covers. Skipping this step results in paint that peels off in sheets.
