The 3M 05771 Soft Interface Pad (3") adds cushioned conformability between the DA backing pad and abrasive disc, allowing even pressure distribution across curved and contoured automotive panels. Without an interface pad, rigid backing pads contact only the high points of a curved surface — leaving low spots uncut and creating an uneven scratch pattern. The interface pad solves this by distributing pressure across the curve profile for complete, consistent abrasive contact.
